WAYPOINT SIGN COMPANY + WOOD PARTNERS

A partnership with 20 nationwide projects to date

In 2014, the Waypoint team met the Wood Partners team. At first, we were given an opportunity with one project. Today, with 20 projects completed or underway, we like to think of ourselves as a trusted signage partner. With projects from Orlando, Florida to Washington, D.C. to Alameda, California and up to Seattle, Washington, we have had the honor of working with Wood Partners across the country. Waypoint has provided design/build services for wayfinding, code, ADA, exterior and marketing signage for Wood’s mid-rise, high-rise and garden-style developments.

Wood Partners develops and builds differentiated, unique developments that are the market leaders in every city that they work in. We understand and appreciate the Wood team’s market position, and as such, work diligently to develop signage that speaks to the building’s character, brand and audience.  Signage can be the code-required numbers and letters on the wall, or signage can be an important element in creating places where people simply want to be. At Waypoint, we believe that signage supports placemaking, and we’re committed to helping Wood Partners bring their project stories to life.

All of us at Waypoint would love the opportunity to support additional Wood Partners team members with their signage needs. In order to provide a bit of insight into our work for the company, we have included some quick snippets on some of our new, recent and historic projects.

Thank you for the opportunity to present our work, and for your valued partnership to date.

ATLANTA: FROM TAILORED TO PLAYFUL – WAYFINDING + EXTERIOR SIGNAGE

Working in Atlanta has been a great experience for the Waypoint team. We were delighted to provide design/build services for Wood Partners’ stunning luxury high-rise in Buckhead, The Huntley. Inclusive of a stately monument sign as well as a full interior wayfinding, code and ADA package, The Huntley’s signage is elegant, supporting the upscale development. Following the success of The Huntley, we enjoyed designing and building a fun and clever, yet not too obvious, milk-inspired full signage package for Alta Dairies, a community filled with personality and stories. Completing our recent work in the Peach State, Waypoint also provided programming and design services for Alta East, a development located in the Reynoldstown neighborhood of Atlanta.

FLORIDA: SUPPORTING SIGNAGE NEEDS IN THE SUNSHINE STATE

With three design/build projects complete in Orlando, and one signage design project in Fort Lauderdale, Waypoint has truly enjoyed engaging in Wood Partners’ Florida developments. The relaxation of living at the lake shines through in the classic exterior and wayfinding (including ADA/code) signage package for Lake House by Alta, in the Dr. Phillips neighborhood of Orlando. Located at the headwaters of the Everglades, Alta Headwaters crisp, natural, Florida sensibility is embraced by its sign package. Completing our recent tour of Orlando, Waypoint was delighted to support the wayfinding, code, ADA and exterior signage needs of Alta Grande, in the South Orlando area of this growing city. In Fort Lauderdale, Waypoint was pleased to support signage design needs for the sleek and modern development, Bask.

NORTH CAROLINA: FIRST IN FLIGHT AND IN SLEEK SIGNAGE

The Waypoint team has loved the design/build process for three projects (to date) in North Carolina. Each of these unique developments has a differentiated character and personality, and the signage is no exception. Alta Croft, in North Charlotte, provides a retreat that is a modern twist on old world charm and southern hospitality. In Optimist Park, Alta Purl mixes the vibes of Uptown and NoDa, bringing a new living experience to Charlotte. And in Chapel Hill, Alta Blu is a comfortable, warm and welcoming environment, supported by signage that is crisp and streamlined. Waypoint provided a full wayfinding, ADA, code and exterior sign package for all three of these developments.

OREGON: SIGNAGE ROOTED IN PORTLAND’S PAST + PRESENT

With two design/build signage projects complete and one almost ready for installation, Waypoint has been so pleased to engage in Wood Partners’ Portland projects. The Portland team presented Waypoint with a mix of developments including one suburban TOD project, and two urban projects in the Burnside neighborhood of the City of Roses. Alta Civic Station in Gresham, a bright, modern community, included a bit more complex wayfinding due to the light rail station adjacency. Alta Peak challenged our team to blend the past, future and  the environmentally conscious present into the resulting signage package. Anticipating TCO in Fall, 2021, Alta ART Tower will introduce yet another sensibility, one of sleek sophistication. All three projects represent a full signage package: wayfinding, ADA, code and exterior signage.

WASHINGTON: SEAMLESS SIGNAGE IN SEATTLE

In 2014, before the larger Wood Partners relationship was established, the Waypoint team engaged on an early development, Dimension by Alta. This incredible development introduced a new level of programming and interior execution to the Seattle market. Alta Arlo is a current project, located in Seattle’s eclectic Columbia City neighborhood. With TCO anticipated in Fall, 2021, Waypoint’s design embraces the ethos of the diverse, sustainable community that surrounds it leveraging wood and breakformed metal with a direct to surface print of the logo mark. Waypoint was pleased to provide design/build services for both projects including full wayfinding, ADA, code and exterior signage packages.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA: SPANNING THE BAY – WAYFINDING + EXTERIOR SIGNAGE

Wood Partners has a significant commitment in the San Francisco Bay area, and Waypoint feels very fortunate to partner with the firm on recent and upcoming projects. The first two projects spanned the Bay with Alta Woodson in Oakland and Alta Potrero on Potrero Hill in San Francisco. Both developments engaged Waypoint for a full design/build signage package including exterior, wayfinding, code and ADA signage. Alta Woodson, a smaller project with 140 units had a keen focus on budget and the resulting simple, yet high-touch signage blended edge and traditional design with natural materials. Alta Potrero Hill, a mid-rise development prioritizes the home living experience, supported by the residential use of individual tiles in the unit IDs. Alta Star Harbor, located within the redevelopment of the North Alameda Waterfront, is an adaptive re-use development that is currently in the signage programming and design phase. We’re excited to see the results from this unique project!

TEXAS: SIGNAGE IS SIMPLY BOLDER IN TEXAS

Waypoint was pleased to provide design services for Wood Partners’ Alta Trinity Green development. Located in the urban residential development of Trinity Green, approximately 2 miles from downtown Dallas, Texas, Alta Trinity Green is a wrap-style development offering residents a myriad of amenities that create a full lifestyle without ever leaving the community.

WASHINGTON, D.C.: PROVIDING SIGNAGE IN THE NATION’S CAPITOL

One of our current projects with Wood Partners is Alta 801, located in Washington, D.C. on the eastern edge of the Mount Vernon neighborhood, an incredibly central location for both pedestrian and METRO access. The development will complete in 2023, and design and programming is currently underway. All of us at Waypoint are excited to be engaged on this project in the nation’s capitol. The accompanying image is of a concept presentation (project in process).
