An alloy of buildings – the adaptive re-use of a government office building and a new multi-family structure bring edge and creativity to the Midtown Phoenix, Arizona market
Waypoint was delighted to engage with a former client now connected to a new company, Blueprint Capital (which in 2024 became Soltrust). Located in the Midtown neighborhood of Phoenix, Arizona, Alloy Midtown lives its name and brand. Reflecting the two-buildings included in the development – a new multi-family midrise structure and the adaptive re-use of the former Phoenix Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) headquarters, Alloy Midtown is a unique, sleek and clever apartment community. With 171 total units, building interiors are a melding of the desert environment and the urban experience with exposed metal, industrial character and softer, natural materials. Waypoint provided design, fabrication and installation services for the wayfinding (inclusive of code and ADA signage), as well as the exterior signage for the project. Signage design was inspired by the project’s name, brand and interiors, speaking to mixed metals, the blending of old and new, and the introduction of natural components. Supporting the differentiation of buildings within the project, each building also has its own color story within the signage program. Synectic and GGLO Design provided architectural and interior design services and A.R. Mays Construction was the general contractor.
