Set in stone: a monument to Salt Lake City living.
When the Wood Partners team mentioned that their Salt Lake City development, Alta Stone was “at the Gateway,” we realized that truly it was at multiple gateways: to downtown Salt Lake’s vibrant streets, to the mountains that provide rocky vistas from the building, and to sports and entertainment, sitting mere blocks from the home of the Utah Jazz at the Delta Center.
Alta Stone’s interiors speak to the lifestyle of its residents, bringing the textures, colors and vibe of the great outdoors inside. Surrounded by stunning mountain peaks, the blue-green of the Salt Lake and the eclectic nature of downtown’s architecture and sidewalk experience, Alta Stone reflects the full Salt Lake City lifestyle. Waypoint’s design team was excited to continue the story with the building’s wayfinding and exterior signage. With a goal to capture the name “Stone,” the brand and the craggly peaks in the distance, our team chose to develop a sign package on Corian – a substrate that gave the appearance of stone while utilizing a sturdy and less expensive material.
Alta Stone was Waypoint’s first project with Wood Partners in Salt Lake City, but it represented a continuation of our long partnership with the company across the United States. We were honored to provide design, fabrication and installation services for the building’s ADA, code, unit ID, wayfinding and exterior signage.
Wood Partners was the developer and owner of the project, Rimrock Construction was the GC, Studio PBA, Inc. was the architect and DEI Interiors provided interior design services.
